Are you prepared to foster volunteerism within your organization? Do you know how to find and recruit people who are passionate about your mission? Developing a new volunteer program and on-going management of volunteers presents a challenge for every nonprofit organization.

This two-session class is composed of a series of short, interactive topics designed to help grow or strengthen your volunteer program.

Session One covers information on where to find volunteers and how to onboard them to assist your nonprofit. The first session is composed of a short presentation followed by questions and comments from the group.

In this first session you will learn:

-How to prepare your agency to accept both long term and short term volunteers

-The methods and process for recruiting new volunteers

-How (and when) to screen volunteers for your organization

You'll get detailed guidelines and will participate in exercises to see which of the ideas would work best for your nonprofit. Walk away with a quick plan to implement at least one or more ideas to reach your organizations goals.

Participants are also encouraged to attend Session Two“Keys to Keeping Quality Volunteers” on March 26 where you will learn how to maintain your new volunteer team. You are encouraged to bring issues and questions for the instructor and other attendees to discuss.

Facilitated by Rachel CementinaA San Luis Obispo local, Rachel was first introduced to volunteer management as a member of the local AmeriCorps program. That position led to coordinating volunteer opportunities of all sizes - from ongoing boards and committees to large one-day volunteer events. She now serves as the Membership and Marketing Director at the SLO County YMCA, is an ambassador for the SLO Chamber of Commerce, and a volunteer manager for God's Storehouse food pantry.
